today i am on the search for props for the broke socialite's sugar coma festival. naturally with sugar on the brain i have been drooling over jordan and paul ferney's "let them eat cake" series and wayne thiebaud. i wish i had a bakery just so i could hang these on a gallery wall.
right now i am eyeing my kitchenaid mixer with delight! i am so happy that i have one. maybe i will have to have a little cake tasting party at my house this holiday... cakes and coffee... or better yet, cakes and champagne.

Love Thiebaud's cake paintings! This reminds me of a great post on d*s last year about modern art-inspired desserts: http://www.designspongeonline.com/2009/08/wayne-thiebaud-inspired-sweets.html
One of my favorite artists!
I've been enjoying the eye candy on your blog for a couple of months now (having discovered it somehow...), but I just had to comment on this post! Thiebaud is a favorite of mine and partially because of the many times I've stumbled upon his exhibits all over the world. Not once have I sought out an exhibit, but whether it be London, New York, or SF, I've always just "happened to be there" when his work is being shown. Such a special treat (pun intended) when you're least expecting it. Thanks for all of your wonderful posts - keep it up!
