world of interiors always brightens my day when i spy it in my mailbox. just when i start to have anxiety about my overwhelming collection of collections, this magazine bursts with likeminded homes. homes that are unabashedly overflowing with treasures coming out of every nook and cranny. i also appreciate the rawness of the spaces they feature. spaces that haven't been tricked out to make the readers believe that these people lead perfect lives without papers and files and messy piles.

i love imperfections and am thankful world of interiors celebrates the same sentiment. wabi sabi, folks. it's how i live my life...

rustic american...

rustic american

rustic american 2

the new york times has two great articles about american rustic style. this is hands-down, my favorite kind of interior styling and i have loved the home of kenyan and grace ever since i first saw their home spotlighted on the selby. and i love when kenyan(also a prop master) describes his affinity for antiques and vintage but says the bus stops at the 1950s. i can't get into those interiors either, for me and my home. i dig it for other people, but for me mid-century and beyond feels inauthentic and disingenuous if i tried to incorporate it into my home. although, i must admit my home would be a little more 1920s-30s flappery dressing room if i wasn't married to a man who doesn't want to live in shug avery's boudoir.

anyway early 20th century style rocks my socks off- dust, rust, and all.

chapel of love...

cumberland island chapel

i can't believe that john john and carolyn got married in this tee-tiny church in georgia. i have this spot earmarked on places i hope to visit in 2011. white clapboard pulls at my heartstrings every time.

also, i've got weddings on the brain(surprise, surprise). today i met with one of my favorite bride's and her invitation designer( who is also this beautiful bride). bright and early january 1st i am lending a helping hand to the divine floral goddess, miss amy osaba, and her assistant erica. then the following week i have a wedding shoot with jeremy. love love love on the brain!

gentleman's club house...

nyt home

{all pics via nyt}

oh man. man oh man. as soon as i saw this home on the nyt website i got super swoony. the chippy paint and the slatted floors get me all sorts of happy. and the 20,000 square footage... i think that could be enough space to house all my props ;) i would love that theatre room to be a dance studio by day, and by night a place to set up a bunch of tents and sleeping bags to watch old movies. basically this house is good, i mean real good. i feel like the beales would approve.

spotlight on: color swatched walls...

{color charts via design*sponge, sibella court, mildred's lane}

i can't wait to be able to have a house one day where i can paint WHATEVER i want and HOWEVER i want. the mister is weary of painting our rental apartment, mainly because he doesn't want the hassle of re-painting when we move. fair enough. in the meantime i am drooling over these slapdashed patches of color. who needs to commit to single-colored rooms when you can create a variety of palettes against soft, natural walls? oh the possibilities! sibella court and j. morgan puett, you gals get it right every time.
