southern garden party...

{first three images: marcus hay, panteek, etsy}
{all photos from simply buckhead taken by the talented renee brock}

here's a little entertaining story i styled for simply buckhead. under the themes "upscale garden party" "pool party" and "southern supper" i created three different tablescapes featuring items from local buckhead shops. i just wanted to mix up it up- elegant silver with vintage floral plates and terracotta accents.

the owners of owen lawrence kindly loaned me some of their utterly timeless silver. the floral plates and napkins are from this adorable shop, urban cottage and the little glass cloches are from hill street warehouse. a fun fact about this estate, pemberley, is that it once hosted a gone with the wind premier party in the 30s and clark gable was a guest!! Can't get more atlantan than that!

later today i am going to post the pictures from a shoot i styled for mucklows fine jewelry. we shot the engagement story in senoia, the town where part of fried green tomatoes was filmed. it truly is the town that time forgot. gorgeous 100 year old white farmhouses punctuate the charming historic community and every corner is marked by a variety of humble churches and chapels. my colors were totally plucked from the environment: the dusty blues of the cornflowers and sun-bleached denims; the whites of the houses and chapels; and the yellows of the shopfronts and wildflowers. and of course, i love me some 1930s influences.

southern flourish...

southern flourish

i am so pleased to reveal a sneak peek from the holiday issue of southern flourish magazine! annette joseph came up with the idea of upcycling old sweaters into simple, handmade felted gifts. she also has some fun ideas for incorporate needle felting and craft felt, as well! we had a blast working on our individual projects for the shoot. these are the bows and scarves i worked on- y'all know i love me a good bow ;)

it was such a treat working with such talented gals, and i'm so thankful annette has decided to add me to her pre-existing dream team. the southern flourish ladies, natalie and lesley, are incredibly kind and gracious editors who even sent handwritten notes afterward! did i mention they are also super generous? if you use the code GINNYHOLIDAY at checkout, you will receive all four 2011 issues, and the holiday issue, for only $8! ($10 is the regular subscription price)

*also, pop on over to annette's blog to see her felted soap DIY!

the wildly talented jeremy harwell just posted these pics on his site from our latest photo shoot for mucklows fine jewelry. we shot their holiday catalogue in senoia, ga with our favorite makeup artist, mara z. our shoot was in senoia, ga an oh-so charming town with a big fish kind of vibe. senoia feels like one of georgia's well-kept secrets.

also, i really love styling and i am beyond happy to have made the switch from visual merchandising. i still have tons and tons to learn, but i'm lucky i have a very good teacher who is showing me the ropes!

christmas in... november?

holiday photo shoot

{photo taken by jeremy harwell}

argh, poor thanksgiving. i am totally not giving it all the lurve it deserves. anyone who works in the editorial world(in any way, shape, or form) totally knows how november gets the shaft and becomes a kind of christmas-y month. here is a sneak peek from my latest styling gig with my faaaaavorite atlanta photographer, jeremy harwell and my faaaaavorite atlanta make up artist, mara z. it was so much fun. i could play with fake snow and diamonds all day long.

calling cards...

do you keep them on you? this is mine. i've hesitated to print them because i squirm at the idea of slapping job titles on myself. AND i feel like there are so many things i love to do... style, draw, interview neat folks, rent/sell antique props, play with flowers, design weddings and experiences. not to mention matchmaking, impersonating, and all sorts of tom foolery.

currently i'm working for one of the neatest, wittiest, most charming women i have ever met. annette joseph. she's a photo-styling woman producing and building an empire, which is pretty rad. and she has the loveliest ability of taking a negative and turning it into a positive. and she is the ultimate connector. she networks like she invented the concept. j'adore that. and her.

when people ask how we connected, she replies: "oh ginny stalked me." so true. i like to euphemize with the phrase "politely persistent".

so back to the main question, DO YOU CARRY A CALLING(BUSINESS) CARD ON YOU???? should i start?

here is a link to a fun prop styling project i did with AWESOME photographer jeremy harwell for atlanta weddings magazine. the stunning flowers were designed by the equally gorgeous amy osaba. mara z was our lovely and talented hair & makeup artist. one of my bestest friends for life corrie wright pellerin made the fabulous bib necklaces/hair accessories!! the delectable cake was by the absolutely hilarious sharon of sweet sensations. and the married couple, jennifer and eric, was just as kind as they were good-lookin'. go team!

the perks of being a flower...

flowers 5

nothing like a rescheduled photo shoot to leave you with an abundance of fresh flowers. not that i'm complaining! i could totally get used to this accidental perk of being a stylist. any pals in the atlanta area want a mini arrangement before the big holiday weekend?
