bloom magazine...

bloom

attention all flower lovers...

anything li edelkoort creates is magic to me. bloom magazine, specifically, would whisper my name to me in new york newsstands. every time my heart would skip as i flipped through the inky pages and then the sadness would sink in when i caught a glimpse of the price tag. totally worth every penny, but a leetle bit too rich for my blood. now this magazine is archived online and i basically spent the entire sunday pinning images from the site. love love love and i'm sure you will too!

in dreams...

flower reflection

last night i had the most wonderful dream that i can't shake. i was selling cut flowers out of the most adorable vintage silver airstream trailer. everything was mapped out so much that i can't believe it was all a dream! it seemed so real. i was so happy. sam cooke was playing and i definitely had a sunburnt nose and lots of freckles. zinc and enamel buckets were spilling out in the front and there was a chalkboard menu of flower specials. there was an old factory trolley with different vases and containers for people to choose from. it was so nice. i think my recent visit to this secret garden is officially haunting my dreams. in the best way. sigh.

artists j'adore: mary delany...

mary delany 2

mary delany

the work of mary delany is quite marvelous. she was a blue stocking, a fine gardener, and quite skilled in areas of handiwork such as needlepoint, drawing and painting. mary befriended several botanists which enhanced her curiosity and fascinations with flowers and plants. mary was a pioneer in the world of decoupage and often made "paper mosaiks" for ladies of the court out of collaged tissue paper.

i am completely fascinated with her attention-to-detail and am floored by her precision and execution. i am almost tempted to try my hand at this, but am a little daunted. i wish i could peek inside her studio and sketchbooks!

the surprising life of constance spry

i had the pleasure of interviewing frances palmer, a potter whose handthrown cake plates make me all misty-eyed and chin-wobbly. brides-to-be, wouldn't you love to register for these? and her perfectly imperfect vases burting with fresh blooms(cut from her garden, mind you) are the bees knees. pop on over here to see the interview.

frances also recommends this book, the surprising life of constance spry, which i am adding to my wish list this minute. doesn't this all make you yearn for a little taste of spring?

a rose...

{1,2,3} {rose photo}

i'm dangerously close to purchasing lush's new imogen rose perfume. i love love rose scents. i use the florentine rose water daily before i slather on moroccan oil and i am on my last drop of cbihateperfume's tea rose. i've never used anything by lush nor have i ever tried a solid perfume, but i'm extremely curious!

lotte and bloom...

lotte and bloom

lotte and bloom 2

{flowers courtesy of lotte and bloom}

i discovered the lush and lovely floral arrangements of lotte and bloom this morning and let out a little sigh. what a darling spot of flower heaven! honestly, i don't think i will ever tire of organic and wild flower styling coupled with vintage containers. never ever ever.

i'm also going to attend miss amy merrick's wreath making class at the brooklyn flea this weekend! she's a saipua alumni and has now started her own floral business! she has serious skills to pay the bills y'all. check out her flickr stream and blog and get ready to have your socks rocked!

also, i have to give a shout out to my homegirl amy osaba. she is undoubtedly my favorite floral designer here in atlanta. if i had a million dollars i would buy an arrangement of hers a week! she's also one of the cutest most loveable gals on the planet.
