with december fast approaching i realize i am still at an utter loss how to stay warm and look like a lady. last year i hibernated under a huge l.l bean sleeping bag of a coat and destroyed many wonderful pairs of shoes.
and balancing out the butch footwear with feminine flourishes.
glittery bras, card cases, and fur collars. now all i need is an all-weather coat that isn't so utilitarian that i feel like a frump. if that even exists.
it begs the question, "what would sarah sophie flicker wear?"
I could spend all winter in big flannel plaid shirts (stolen from my man, natch) and leggings, which I'm convinced keep you warmer than pants. Add a heavy-duty vintage coat with a fur collar, and I'm set! Although I guess I do kind of look like a confused lumberjack a lot of the time.
You should let me take you outerwear shopping! There's a place in Bushwick where you can get a '50s boucle coat for like $30!
i love that i know the first comment is my sister... the "fabu" is a dead give away :)
and abby dear... i found the boots on etsy via the seller "greatest friend". similar ones are made by red wing and quoddy, but i could not fork over their asking price. these were under $50.
I've been lusting after those J. Crew wallets, too, even though I have a lovely wallet that won't shed glitter in my purse (it seems like that could be a hazard with the glitter wallets). That said, I know I'm totally getting one for my mom's and sister's stockings...and probably one for myself! As always, a pretty mix of aesthetics in your post.
GINNY- who makes the hunting boots? Are they yours or his? I'm somehow restraining myself from using ALL CAPS HERE. If those are women's shoes, I'm bout to die. Tell me! XOX
the boots i purchased from a gal on etsy. they are a ladies mexican work boot... and the tag says "tamarind" but when i google it, nothing comes up except the original etsy listing...
so your guess is as good as mine! i actually wish they were ed's. he saw them and thought i had bought them for him. i might have to buy him the fancy redwing version for christmas...
Let me know when your next Friday, Saturday, or Sunday off is! I need some wintry gear as well.
Also, I just noticed the blanket under your boots... is that a WWII Army medical wool blanket?! Because I'm obsessed with them!! I have two, plus one from the Navy!
especially in winter, i am always trying to create a good mix of feminine and warm. i love all the sparkly - those little card holders are so cute, you are making me wish i ordered one when i ordered one of their sparkly belts!

Pretty sparkles. :) & that's always a good question to ask before getting dressed, I need to remind myself of that!
Love the plan! Perfect for winter.
Ooo..love those boots! where are they from? i too am gearing up, as cute as i can be, for living in the frozen tundra for the next few months...

I am so MAD to see you got the J.Crew glitter wallet(s). So much for a fabu GB stocking stuffer. But great minds think alike....

and JC- yes and yes and yes!!!!!
i'm trying to find allpurpose boots that are pretty and waterproof and comfy and that will last me forever because i hate shopping. it is a struggle!
Good find! Men's winter shoes are much more practical-looking than women's, somehow. All ruggedy-like.
I think it's almost time to break out the childhood Bean boots--if they still fit, that is.

the laces came with the boots! i thought i would hate them, and bought leather laces to replace 'em... but i've warmed up to these ones!
