give me my sin again...

saw this tonight at lincoln center. i have always dreamed of seeing zeffirelli's romeo and juliet on the big screen. olivia hussey and leonard whiting are so beautiful it hurts to look at them. i bawled like it was the first time i'd ever seen it (even though i have probably seen it several hundred times). chelsea had to hold me.

next saturday i'm going to see the baz luhrmann version. i can't wait.

we saw the baz one a couple of weeks ago at school and it was quite strange and a lil confusing!

I remember seeing Franko Zefferlis version while in high school. The girls were all in love, while the boys made jokes about the costumes. It is a wonderful movie. Would love to see it on the big screen! I love Baz'z version too. The modern interpretation, the humour and music. When we went travelling, we went to Verona and I stood on "Juliets balcony" and had my photo taken with the Juilet statue like a good little tourist. We also went to Shakespears house while in Stratford Upon Avon.

I have only ever seen the Baz Lurhrmann version. I was so confused when I watched it the first time at 9 years of age, but have loved it every single time afterwards. Love the soundtrack!

I first watched this movie so many many years ago, it was beautiful. The thing that stays with me though is that I cried for hours. And, for three day afterwards, whenever I would think about the movie or tell someone about it - I would then again sob. I suppose I am funny that way...

i also have the album framed! it used to belong to my mother-in-law and she gave it to me in a frame. this movie is flawless in my humble opinion...

I first watched this in my eighth grade English class, and was mesmerized.

i've never read the book, seen a play or movie. i find that rather sad. i really need to see at least one version soon.

oh ruta! netflix both the luhrman and the zeffirelli version asap...if reading the play doesn't sound appealing. both are marvelously romantic and visually stunning. my heart pounds when i just think about the movies.

I remember being OBSESSED with the Baz Luhrmann version--I had the movie itself (on VHS, of course), the poster, and both soundtracks. I still listen to the first soundtrack all the time.

um, so funny, did you see that imdb has the original trailer for it? the trailer is not the work of art that the movie is...and that last minute of it is just reviews posted! things sure have changed.

any time you need an arm to cry on in the theater you lemme know.
