frozen in time...

armadillo head

mmm, nothing says delicious like one year-old frozen bleedin' armadillo cake. my mother saved the head of this poor "animal" in her freezer for us.

armadillo cake

with a little french vanilla trader joe's icecream, it wasn't too terrible. red velvet cake and grey icing... mmmmmmm.

the only reason i even revived this scary animal, is because of the age-old tradition or eating frozen wedding cake on your first anniversary. i'm a sucker for traditions. truth be told, we probably should have frozen some of our cupcakes, since that was our true "wedding cake". this is just the groom's cake. thankfully, i'm not a sticker for technicalities. plus, this makes for a funnier photo op.

It's been a long time since I've seen a bleeding armadillo groomscake. I gotta get back down south! Happy anniversary, you look like a lovely couple.

Congrats on the anniversary but that cake is truly frightening. I've seen an armadillo cake before in some movie that took place in South. Is that a traditional thing?

hahahahaha! yes, this is a TERRIFYING cake-and it was even more so when it was entirely intact! it is a reference from steel magnolias, the movie is one of my favorites of all time.

but i echo everyone's assessment of this cake ;)

I just came here to enlighten everyone on "Steel Magnolias". As usual, I'm late to the party. Hmph.

My sweet fiance is dying for an armadillo bleeding cake as well. I'm so happy to see it here!

Where oh Where did you find that armadillo cake? It's so much better looking than ones I've seen before.
