ooh wee, ed and i are headin' to the lake house of one of our favorite married couples. sparklers snapping and glittering. fireworks exploding in the sky above a fleet of speed boats, pontoons, and chris-crafts. burgers. stripey shirts and straws. red lipsticked mouths. blue ridge mountains. starry skies. i can't wait. how will y'all be spending the fourth???
p.s this holiday always makes me think of my mom. she has always been proud to be an american, loves to sing "you're a grand ole flag", and we always had plenty of sparklers. and she loves her a good flag.
*it was brought to my attention that "stars and bars" is not slang for the american flag, but the confederate flag. which (personally) is not a flag i would ever celebrate. i apologize for any misunderstandings and am thankful this error was pointed out to me.

I'm really sad that I can't celebrate the Fourth of July here with a big old street party like I used to back home in Oregon! I live in Perth, and it's really quite sad on the 4th not being able to go an event that made my year every year growing up!
Your blog is always so unbelievably fantastic, and it's always been a favorite of mine. You are simply adorable and always write about things that warm my little heart from the inside out.
I would be delighted if such an inspirational blogger like you would check little ol' me out at my blog. I'm hosting a giveaway right now, and I would simply LOVE you to enter it.
Entirely up to you though :)
Much Love,

Gorgeous photo!
I have to work on the 4th (my weekends are Monday and Tuesday) but I think my hubby is getting Monday off, so we'll have our "fireworks" a day late - ha!
Hope you have the best 4th ever! Blue Ridge Mountains, eh? That's where my mom's people are from!
so jealous! this sounds like my perfect 4th of July. Have so much fun!!
Sounds like a fabulous time! Well, the 4th is my birthday so hopefully we'll be doing something fun to celebrate... maybe a trip to the beach.
sounds like an amazing week end , have a wonderful time there
FYI: the Stars and Bars is the confederate flag. Here is a wikipedia quote - "The first official flag of the Confederacy, called the "Stars and Bars," was flown from March 5, 1861, to May 26, 1863."
Perhaps you meant Stars and Stripes?
