today i am on the search for props for the broke socialite's sugar coma festival. naturally with sugar on the brain i have been drooling over jordan and paul ferney's "let them eat cake" series and wayne thiebaud. i wish i had a bakery just so i could hang these on a gallery wall.

right now i am eyeing my kitchenaid mixer with delight! i am so happy that i have one. maybe i will have to have a little cake tasting party at my house this holiday... cakes and coffee... or better yet, cakes and champagne.

look at all these shiny happy people. thank god for the holidays and reasons to wear sparkles.

grateful weekend...

1. host an impromptu wine and cheese party. take cues from this lady for budget-friendly suggestions. and totally try trader joe's cinnamon cheese... it is mouth-wateringly delicious.
2. make a dash to the craft store or here for pipe cleaners. i think pipe cleaners might be my new favorite crafting staple and i plan on using them for everything- unexpected ornaments, unusual "ribbon" to wrap presents with, napkin rings with place cards, you name it.
3. dig out your old camp blankets, tartan stadium blankets, and wool throws. the temperature is finally dropping, even in georgia! this place has some delicious blankets...
4. if you haven't already, sample kiehl's musk oil. it smells like fall to me. best musk scent there is! ask amy merrick and peter hale cooney III...
5. buy or make a hot water bottle cover(out of an old sweater). our beagles make pretty good bedwarmers, but i will enjoy having an extra!
6. gratitude cards. i am a major fan of the attitude of gratitude, so much so, that it was the reason i started this blog in the first place. i will definitely be extra thankful this month, won't you?

my father fondly referred to my pre-braces gap as a "cute space". these gals for sure have me semi-regretting my teenage dental work. and let's celebrate the OG gap-toothed beauty, the divine miss lauren hutton. she is my favorite classic beauty, hands down. i hope all you dollies out there with your cute spaces never get them fixed. beauty quirks are the best!

i am literally waiting on pins and needles for this book to come out. my kitchen library has a modest sampling of cookbooks. my staples: mastering the art of french cooking, the art of simple food, urban pantry( one of my all-time faves), and the new basic recipe by cooks illustrated.

november is the perfect time to practice new recipes and refresh old ones. i want to bake some killer bread and find the best recipe for crumbly mac n cheese. mmm. i'm also hosting this month's supper club with my cute gal pals. if anyone has easy breezy beautiful recipes they swear by, send 'em on over! i'm so game to experiment in the kitchen this month!

november...

whew. that was a super fun halloween 2010! we hosted a creepy masquerade and my favorite folks turned it out in the costume department! and not one "naughty cop" or "naughty nurse". my favorite couple costumes- waffle and waffle house waitress, soap on a rope and loofah, and bert and mary poppins. we also had a very clever-ly executed clark kent/superman and lois lane, complete with handout flyers. awesome.

i'm so excited for november, and am already trying to decide what dishes i need to start practicing for thanksgiving. i can't just show up with canned cranberry sauce... even though that is MY FAVORITE!
